849
The Porsche 917/30s of 1973, raced by Team Penske in the Can-Am series, weighed 849 Kg and produced at least 1100 bhp in race trim. It was brought out of retirement in 1975 and specifically prepared for a high speed run. Mark Donohue lapped the Talladega race track at an average of 221 mph, setting a world speed record.
Six chassis were built,
#001 raced in the European Interserie.
#002 & 003 were the Team Penske Can-Am cars.
#004 & 006 would have been the '74 Penske cars, but #004 was sold to Australian Porsche importer Alan Hamilton. It subsequently to reappear liveried as a Penske car in 1992 and raced at the Nurburgring.
#006, wasn't assembled when Penske withdrew from Can-Am. In 1982 the chassis was sold to Vasek Polak who managed to assemble enough parts to complete it in 1995.
I would be interested if anyone knows anything about #005

Bernd Rosemeyer used a Horch 853 Stromlinen Coupe as his personal transport. The car, named Manuela by Herr Rosemeyer, was a beautiful 2 seater coupe based on a shortened Horch 852 chassis.

855 - BUGATTI Type 19 Bebe had an 855 c.c. engine. Although the German company, Wanderer, failed to licence the design, Peugeot picked it up and sold it as the Type BP1. they fitted with their own engine and gearbox. Wanderer went on to design their own small car, but fitted it with a Bugatti 4 speed transmission.

Unfortunately, if you look to either side of it, there is a Porsche Carrera GT 855 and a Porsche Carrera GT 857!

Anyone got another, non-contraversial 856?
