Hi,
My real name is Johan and I used to be a avid F1 fan from the Netherlands (I'm still from the Netherlands though). I have been a visitor of Pitpass since before it became pitpass.
I am a system administrator for a BIG sportscompany, if you look at my helmet, you know which one That helmet is my own design and I use it in F1 Championship '99-'02 when I race online with a collegue and some friends. (I am the Minardi dressed up like a Ferrari )
I have watched every race since the late 80's (most of them live on TV and a few even at the track) but recently my love for the sport has gone the way of the overtaking manouvre.
I am a MS/Ferrari fan but not from the beginning. I have been a Mika Hakkinen hater since May 1, 1994. For the rest, I have no special like or dislike for any of the current drivers or teams.
That's me in a nutshell.

I don't understand why anybody would think you hide behind an Avatar or nickname.I mean the ability to use an Avatar is cool and maybe express something about yourself. And I think if you want use a nick thats cool as well. There are plenty of nutters around so it's understandable to remain anonymous if you feel better about it. Anyway my name is Neil I am a Kiwi but I choose to live Perth Australia. My Avatar is a redback spider and I call myself Shocktreatment.Well you usually get a Shock if you ensounter one of these little bastads as they have a nasty bite. And so do I if I'm disturbed In F1 I have my favourites,I like the champ,Kimi,Sato and Webber and I have a few dislikes.Being a Kiwi I will always like Maclaren but I wish Ron Dennis would go away.I love Ferraris and I don't mind old Franky baby.Alonso is a f/wit,afist waving finger pointing dickhead.Hey this guy also took Bruce Maclarens record of the youngest driver to win a GP with illegal tyres.I'm pretty cool with nearly everyone else.Oh s*&! I forgot Dave Richards.Anyway thats me I love F1,I surf, used to do martial arts but I got the big C a few years back and have eased off that stuff.Hey I"m a survivor I recovered(no sympathy please)Thats about it without starting a f'n novel _________________ Congratulations Kimi Raikkonen |

Great thread!
As for myself, I am an Asian living in Australia(Chinese). I am going through my Bachelor's degree at the National University of Australia. My major is Acturial Studies, not a bad major if you look at its career prospects.
Been interested in F1 since 3 years ago.
18 years old. 5/10
Btw, Kevin is not my real name. And it's not the name of one of my pets also.
My name is Cong. Glad to have been a regular visitor of the best F1 forum online. _________________ felicitious greetings everyone |

Damn, now that I got the skinny on the whole lot of you, I don't know if I should use it against you in our discussions/banter?? I'm seriously torn!!!!
I must admit that these posts were very interesting to read! Alright, alright here goes...
My name is Jacques, I'm 33 years old, unemployed for almost a year now and live in a van DOWN BY THE RIVER!!!
Ok, ok...
My name is Mike (Sean Brian Kirby, for what ever reason, thinks I'm a girl! ), I'm 34, married and have a 20 month old daughter called Natasha. Currently, I live in Montreal, but lived for 4 years in Germany where, at the time, I did a tool and die apprenticeship. I'm a Mechanical Engineer and worked in the telecom industry for JDS Uniphase untill the bubble burst!! Now I'm working in the die casting industry.
I've been following F1 since the early 80's, but only seriously since 95. I've only attended race in Montreal. I don't have any favorite driver or team, but I prefer Williams and then McLaren.
I love snowboarding and can't wait to go cat-riding in BC this year again! I love riding in the snow park, but I'm not as crazy as some of those kids out there! I used to do martial arts (Savate and Muay-Thai) untill my daughter was born. I play squash and love to smoke Cuban cigars.
So, now we are even! Oh, and and I view almost everything in a humerous way! |

My turn.
I'm Fraser Stewart, 22 and orignally from Scotland. I now live in 'Sunny' Sussex and work as a software engineer in the transport sector.
My non F1 interests are watching cricket (the mighty Sharks @ Hove), reading fiction, playing Grand Prix Legends, sitting under trees in parks, taunting JVi fans and collecting blades of grass. Sometimes all at the once! _________________ The Pitpass Dave Richards Adoration Club - Join today! |

Anyway, I'm 28, work on various projects, and tried to make it in racing but never managed to raise quite enough money. Never got on with racing single seaters, but they were fun - saloon cars all the way for me.
Run BAR-Talk.com as a hobby, but I'm an F1 fan above all teams or drivers.
Been to too many GP's for my wallet to cope with.
Claim to fame? I've beaten Ralf Schumacher in equal machinery. Alright, he beat me three other times, but who's counting? _________________ : ---- : Phil Huff : CimaRacing.co.uk : ---- : |

Hi, I'm Shant Fabricatorian. You might remember me from such pitpass articles as, "Look, Bernie, your empire's losing TV ratings fast" and "Massa IS good. Yes, really".
As you may have guessed, I'm angry with the way F1 is going at the moment. I'm 19 years old at the moment, I've been following it for...er, I can't put an exact date on it, but I know it's since at least 1990. I know, because I distinctly remember asking my dad why the McLarens were running #27 and #28, and the Ferraris 1 and 2. I'd only ever known it the other way around.
Since then, the passion has just grown. From where, I'm not quite sure, because at the end of the day all it is is a bunch of guys going around in circles every other Sunday. Even more puzzling is the fact that it's grown in the face of such stiff adversity, like the antiseptic on-track action and the fact that the whole enterprise has just turned ever-more corporate. I think Sir Frank's maxim is applicable here. For the time, every other Sunday, between when the lights go out and the chequered flag falls, F1 is still a sport, rather than a business.
But be that as it may, the fact remains that for pure thrills I get my fix from WRC and MotoGP instead these days.
Outside of motorsport, I have a passion for Italian cars. Not just the mad supercar stuff, but relatively mundane stuff like Fiats, Lancias and even Autobianchis. At least until recently, Italian cars used to have a soul, and you can really feel that as you belt along your favourite road. I own a Lancia Beta HPE, and it has been, remarkably, almost totally reliable, letting me down just once. Okay, the fuel consumption is appalling (averaged considerably less than 20mpg), it costs a fortune to run, and the electrics need to have attention lavished on them every six months, but it's all worth it for the way it involves you in the experience of driving it.
Outside of motorsport, I take an interest in politics and government, satire, history and travel. Some of them, especially the last one, are expensive, you're thinking, and you'd be right. Studying an economic and social sciences degree at Sydney University isn't likely to make it any less so, either, but then, that's not really what I'm doing it for. For what I want - a proper understanding of how the world actually works - it's terrific. |

Hi there!
This seems like a nice little place, with an A1GP forum and everything, so I thought I'd drop by.
I'm Kristjan (pronounced like Christian, although I'm not), currently 21, from Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. I earn my living as a programmer, after I turned out to be too stubborn for a university degree in network software & intelligent systems. Just didn't like the math, I guess.
For me, F1 has been a sacred event ever since about 1998. Before that, around '94-'97, it was just a fun thing to watch every once in a while. Dare someone distract me from watching a press conference, I shall be quite... well, you know...
My other passion is music -- I've been singing for as long as I can remember. No education in this field either, though.
Right... A bit too much for my first post, eh? _________________ ...there's another way... |

Carlos, from Madrid (Spain)
I like almost any motor sport, specially aerobatics (but there are not many competitions on this). I prefer rallies to circuit races, but since Alonso is on F1 there is some kind of a F1 fever here.
Favourite pilot: Alonso (not Fernando, but Ramón, one of the world top10 unlimited aerobatic pilots) Great to see him fly
Favourite drivers: The Matador Carlos Sáinz and Alonso (Fernando this time). I was also a fan of Gené (Jordi Gené, Marc's brother) but he never reached F1. Kankunnen was also one of my best-ever favourite drivers.
Only experience in motor racing competition as assitance to a friend on rallying (I drove the support car, but then I had to run a lot "on open trafic" to arrive to assistance areas in time
I'm not a good driver (too theorethical) but I enjoy control (going sideways ) rather than pure speed

Hi !
I´m McLaren fan since 80´ from Croatia . I always supported McLaren , but , Lauda´s days at Ferrari was the reason , why I love F1 . When he came to McLaren , I made a Team " choice " .
I always try to be fair , and I critisize only McLaren . I never blamed Ferrari or MS if F1 is " boring " nowadays . I blame my Team for wasting of time and money on wrong projects . Hope they´ll improve soon , because F1 need RACES , not Ferrari´s cruising on the track .
My favourite drivers were Lauda , Prost and Häkkinen .
Oh , and my english is far away from good , because I never learned english in my life . I do my best to express my thoughts , and I do hope that you people understand what I´m talking about ?
PS : I was at Hungaroring 2002 and A1-Ring 2003 . I also love Moto GP races and I´m " she " if you didn´t notice by now . |

Thanks Bikus for reviving this thread. I had not seen it! And I know I confused a few people with my lack of introduction.
Anyway, you all know that I am Sam. I'm FEMALE and my nickname on another forum is F1 Queen! I stubbled across F1 in 90/91, flicking through the TV channels on a Sunday afternoon but I got serious about it in 93/94. I didn't go to my first race though until France 2001 and have been to 25 since then. It's quite addictive! When I started out, I supported Damon but there was this German guy who was so damned good and impressed me hugely so slowly, I began to support him and as someone else said, it's tough to support Damon and Michael! That being said, I still took great joy when Damon enjoyed the successes that came his way in the Arrows and the Jordan! I felt very proud!
Anyway, I was a Schumi fan, until I went to Monza in 2001. Some really nice guys took me to Maranello for the day on the Saturday and I became a Ferrari fan! I will always support Ferrari! However, since Australia 2000, Michael and Ferrari have had to share my support with a young Brit called Jenson! And nowadays, Jensons success gives me so much more that Michaels - a win for MS is just another win but I cried for Jenson's first podium and get soooooooo excited when it looks like he might bag the first win! I have also met Jenson numerous times and he is great. I have spent lots of time with him and find him warm and is very generous with his supporters. I hope that one day he will win the WDC.
And a bit more about me, I turned 33 when I was at the Brazilian GP this year (what a way to spend your birthday). I work in London for a Swiss bank, buying and selling foreign currencies. I love travelling and I love photography. I am also more than a little partial to shopping!!! What can I say - I am a girlie!
And finally, I have friends at various F1 teams but you'll learn more about that as time goes on! _________________ Sam |

I reckon it's time i introduced myself.
My name is Duncan Rollo and I was born in the year that Formula 1 was introduced (remember Formula 1 preceded the WDC!)
I grew up in Kenya where the main event was the Safari. But we also had some track racing and the top car for some years was a D-Type Jaguar, hence my nickname.
The magazine Motor Sport reached the colonies so I grew up on a diet of Denis Jenkinson which I'm sure explains some of my traditionalist views.
I still watch modern GP racing but feel that more overtaking takes place as a result of pitstops than on the track. I also feel that the balance of driver:car has swung too far towards the car - I would put it at 20:80 at present. Witness the number of grids where they line up 2 by 2 like the animals going into the ark with Ferraris at the front and Minardis at the rear. There is less opportunity for a driver to use his skills to overcome the deficiencies of his car. I would like to see cars with more power or less grip. Restricted rim width, reduced aerodynamics so cars could approach one another without becoming unstable, etc.
I also deplore the over-emphasis in the media (popular and motoring) on Formula 1 to the detriment of other forms of racing such as F3, sports cars and touring cars. Once upon a time they used to televise club meetings from places like Crystal Palace and Full Sutton (who's even heard of that one?) but not any more. _________________ The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know. |

I'm sure I've done this before ... wow. Deja vu, all over again ...
Heh. I'm Adrian, male, born in 1947, and a Ferrari fan since 1957. Heroes have been Fangio, Moss, Clark, Lauda, Prost, and Michael Schumacher. (I've been a fan of Mike's since 1992 - his immense talent just stood up and begged for attention at the time. Beating Senna, Mansell et al at Spa '92 was a pretty good indication of where he was headed; to the top. He got there fast ... and he's remained there ever since.)
I started motor racing in the '60's - my first serious race car was Syd van der Vyver's Lotus 18. I finally stopped racing in 1999. And I still miss it.
I'm a systems analyst, writer, shooter (12th in a World Championship) and taunter of speed trap personnel. _________________ At Ferrari, the status of the No. 1 driver is determined by the time sheets. It is not decided by God or what the journalists or what the team might think ... Michael has been consistently the fastest Ferrari driver since 1996 - Luca di Montezemolo |

hello to you.
I'm 21, and a broadcaster based in Derby,- been into f1 for a relatively short time, picked it up at the end of the 2000 season, but have vivid memories of the mansell days, especially a monaco race (92...?) and that spa where they all crashed.
big fan of jenson, for the simple fact that he's a uk 'boy done good' and a genuine future wdc in the making. (methinks)
Am actually quite intelligent, despite what my posts suggest :
nice meeting you all,
Beejay (Ben) |
