JYS - first F1 driver I remember
Pryce - on the verge of something great when he died.
Gilles - sublime talent
Hunt - just a fun guy
Peterson - awesome on his day
Gunnar Neilson good driver, great personality
Derek Daly - average driver, but hey the 1st Irish driver I remember - there might have been others in the past (Eire)
Watson - good driver, Irish
Irvine - so un PC. More please
Mansell - he never gave up
G. Hill - what I imagined an English gent should look like including the moustache
D Hill - first Jordan win

As you can see no real logic, but my selection nontheless.

Stefan Bellof, because we never saw him in the F1 spotlight. He is still the quickest ever around the Nurburgring 6.11,130. And he was closing in on Senna in that famous wet Monaco race which was black flagged by winner Prost's friend Ickx. What a finish did they deny us there. Can't remember the year though, was it 82?

And Gilles.....

Don't start that nonsense. In my opinion Ickx stopped the race because, in his capacity as Clerk of the Course, he considered conditions were dangerous, based on his many years as a racing driver at the highest level.

There was no conspiracy or intentional wrongdoing.

If you study the points situation, had the race run full term, or long enough to score full points, AND Prost had finished second behind Senna then Prost would have been World Champion, not Lauda. Some conspiracy!

But Ickx could not have known that at the time.

The connection between Ickx and Bellof will forever remain a sad one. The less said on it, the better.

Bellof was amazing. Who knows how much he could have heated up an already rich, deep F1 era?

That race was in '84.

Gilles (talent), Ronnie (ditto), James (lifestyle), Stirling (my first hero), Mika (recent favourite), Nikki (dedication).

Even though I am a ferrari fan, i have to say the driver i miss most is Mika Hakkinen.

Having said that, I dont know that it would be the same if he came back to F1 tomorrow. I doubt he'd be able to get into a car and be back to the form he had 4 years ago when he last strapped himself into a F1 car.

I would say Alain Prost ...ok ok ... you know why but it would have been nice in Renault! Other than Senna for sure .. AS and MS in the same race, and similar machines ... that would have been terrific!

there are loads of great drivers I missed, AS being the main one.

from what my Dad has told me, and video Archives, I would vote for Juan Manuel Fangio.
