At last, another race! And since the last one they've brought in the most complicated qualifying system you've ever seen - I'd love to see them try it in F1 .
Anyway, it's great to see that in the first round of qualifying Justin Wilson finished third . Bourdais gets a championship point for coming first and Junqueira was second. And tomorrow they do it all over again.
Justin looks to have a really good chance of a podium in the race. Go Justin!! |

Yeah, I tried reading that format 3 times and still didnt understand it Well done to Wilson though, he's proving his skill and his investors will be very happy _________________ Gilles and Jacques - The Villeneuve Dynasty

Justin's simply getting better and better - he's qualified third for the race and only missed second by 0.011s!
Now we've got two fascinating races to look forward to tomorrow. Go Justin!!
Incidentally, after feedback from fans and drivers, who didn't like the new qualifying format, they abandoned it and went back to normal for today's session. If only F1 could make decisions that quickly! |

Just shows how in touch with reality CART is. _________________ Gilles and Jacques - The Villeneuve Dynasty

Hmmmm, not quite sure about that one mate, in one sense yes but not historically anyway .. only couple of years ago, if you remember the Honda/Toyota 'pop off' valve nonsense. Effectively it put paid to those two manufacturing giants continuing involvement with the series; it so nearly cost the series it's existence ... blind stubborness lost it a lot of friends !! Perhaps the new series owners are mindful of this and are plainly more in touch with reality eh, I'd like to agree with that one !
On a lighter note I'd like to draw attention to the continuing reputation of the Mexican host broadcaster today, ..... fantastically awwwful Actually, it was seriously better than previous incarnations .. they've toned down the naff music and dwell less upon blown engines, burnouts and endless repeats of overtakes/mishaps etc. At least we were not subjected to continual coverage of Adrian Fernadez plodding around the track in last place ... you'll remember if you saw that particular annoyance, less said the better !! I do wonder why he left (AF), perhaps it's obvious to assume
he thought Champ Car was done and dusted but he was absolutely idolised .. maybe it matters not for him to race in his own country now but probably a sponsor issue I'd imagine ??
Great to see Champ Car back live anyway .... certainly after the Eurosport 'less than live' policy, makes me realise more why I missed it !!
Bourdais seems a class act, he just gets better and better. Wilson was commendable and showing his worth in top flight competition, bravo !
Am I alone in thinking that Mario Dominguez has an absolute ringer of a Mark Blundell helmet ... Dean |

Justin did another great job - 6th again (and ahead of Tracy). Not the podium some of us were hoping for, but pretty good given all the problems he had with tyres in the first stint.
Yes, Bourdais is really classy. Junqueira's not bad too - though he whinges a bit too much! It looks like Champ Cars is being taken over by F3000 champions.
The Milwaukee Mile is going to be a tester, though - on an oval and in the dark! |

Dean, I was referring to the way CART treats its fans and things like that mate. That pop off valve nonsense really screwed them over. As for the race, great drives from both N-H boys whilst Wilson really drove well. He finished ahead of Tracy who had a hell of a time trying to pass him. Excellent drive from Tagliani 15th to 5th I believe. Gotta feel sorry for Marques though. He was in the top 10 until the push start rope snapped his suspension, one of the weirdest things I'll ever see in motorsport for sure!! _________________ Gilles and Jacques - The Villeneuve Dynasty

I should have known that one NOJV, quite right !! I've never been to an F1GP (resent the silly money to get in) but ' been to a few CART events ..not so long ago, I paid $50 for a 'pit pass' in Belle Isle, Detroit and stood as close to Michael Andretti, Juan Montoya et al as I am to this monitor .. CART do look after their fans whims, for sure !! I can't, sadly, see that ever being the case with F1 .. wellllllllll, perhaps a few grand goes a long way to a decent corporate seat eh

Be quite hard to top that but I do remember a hare (hmmm big bunny) smashing Dario Franchitti's Mercedes up in DTM a while back. A seagul making a reeeeeal mess of Colin Edwards, Troy Causer and a few others in Superbike and 500GP at Phillip Island... but NOTHING quite so freakish as the tow rope !! |
