If you mean all World Championship events, the first two are:
Lee Wallard 50% (2 no Indianapolis 500s - won 1)
Fangio 47% (51 Grands Prix - won 24) _________________ The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know. |

I was thinking only of F1 drivers, but Fangio is first. Aren't you too experienced to be in this thread? _________________ Nostalgia isn't what it used to be. |

Retha. when I started this thread I didnlt word it very well - saying win 3 times then out. Bit hard on D-Type because there is nothing to say he doesn't qualify. But - yes. You are right - this was designed to get some newcomers started with maybe some easier questions.
All suggestions for rules or rule changes welcome. All that is wanted is a quiz that will ensourage some more people to be not scared and to get involved.
Over to you for suggestions |

Sorry if my intervention is causing waves.
My reason for posting was to make the point that it might be a poorly phrased question. In the early days, Indianapolis was a World Championship round so Lee Wallard is the World Championship contender with the highest scoring average. It may be statistically convenient to ignore Indianapolis but it is historically inaccurate. Likewise to say 'Fangio had 24 Formula 1 wins from 51 Formula 1 starts' is also inaccurate as in 1952 and 1953 the Championship was for Formula 2 races (+Indianapolis). There are a whole host of trick questions that hinge around the fact that Grand Prix, World Championship race and Formula 1 race were not always synonymous.
So, to progress this thread, let's rephrase the question to say 'Which two Grand Prix drivers had the highest percentage of wins to starts in World Championship races? (excluding Indianapolis) (Shared wins count as wins).
Obviously Fangio is Number 1 so we're looking for Number 2 _________________ The more you learn, the more you realise how little you know. |

True, but so many websites and books don't actually include the 50's Indy 500 results in their stats that it is usually taken as implied that the Indy 500 doesn't count in the trivia questions (unless it is stated in the question that it might be involved).
There was almost no crossover between the WDC Indy 500's and the remaining WDC events in terms of drivers or teams, which is why it is usually omitted, or simple referred to in a footnote... |

I went with the same assumption as MattB, and I believe new members would also go from that assumption. _________________ Nostalgia isn't what it used to be. |

Ascari is second: 13 wins from 31 races mean 41,9% (He also competed at the Indy 500 once when it counted towards the WDC- 13 wins from 32 races mean 40,6%.)
--------New question:
What is the smallest amount of points the World Drivers Championship has ever been won by?
What year was it, who was first and who was a very close second? _________________ Nostalgia isn't what it used to be. |

Whoops, just realised this is the newer one for newer members, I'll stick to the older one in future.
In '99, two drivers from the same team crashed at the same spot during the same session.
Who, which team, what corner and what track? |

Villeneuve and Zonta at Spa in their BARs.
The corner was Raidillon at the top of Eau Rouge. |

This year both Minardi and Midland are racing with rookie drivers.
When was the last a team started the season with two rookies? |
