Just tried watching some of the BBC build-up. I like their grid-slot graphics, but after two minutes of listening to the syrup-sporting bore ranting like an angry headteacher at Ferrari I retreated to the sanctuary of Sky, where McNish, Chandhok and Heidfeld have all offered some good insight and analysis this weekend.
If Sky replace Lazenby next season with someone better, I think they'll get their coverage pretty well nailed. I honestly think Thompson could do a better job than him. Even better, get Lee MacKenzie. |

A big "yes please" to Lee McKenzie!
I know not everyone likes Croft and to be fair he does get stuff wrong and gets a bit loud, but I also think despite that, the Croft-Brundle pairing is working really well - and better than I expected it to. |

Crofty has come in for a lot of stick but I briefly switched over to the Beeb during the race yesterday and found Ben Edwards in a much less restrained mode than Crofty. So I donut know what the fuss is all about there.
I have to say that Sky is now my channel of choice though I keep an eye on the Beeb through iPlayer in the lead up and post race to make sure I'm not missing anything. I thought Nick Heidfeld was particularly good value yesterday and Ted Kravitz is always good. Lazenby is becoming less irksome and I'm frankly quite happy to forego the over sensational EJ. Sadly he's becoming a caricature of himself.
The Skypod is still badly done though in theory a good concept. |

Here's one that is either entirely in my head, or everyone has sort of noticed.
Gary Anderson really has it in for McLaren. Pre-season, their car looked hopeless. In-season, they can't develop the car, their mechanics are useless, and they haven't a hope of the title.
Some of his points are valid, but his digging at the engineers for not fixing Button's car quickly in Canada was just ignorant. Similarly, his first impression of the MP4-27 was that it was an under-developed dog. His conviction just annoys me as it never comes off right. _________________ "With its F1 coverage from 2012 set to play second fiddle, the BBC promises to get fans close to the true experience - of being Mark Webber" #HIGNFY @don_lyall |

Totally confused over the BBC's scheduling of Silverstone raceday.
I have no issue as such, with them having to cover the event on two channels. After all, Wimbledon is one of its crown jewels and Silverstone isn't but surely it makes more sense for BBC to also take the pre-race build up.
Logistically it appears they can't do that because it is preceded by Moto GP but surely that could be switched to BBC1.
The timings make it a natural fit anyway. |

His cut-off time predictions tho for Qs1-3 are spot on every time |

Despite the lack of running, I thought Sky did a god job today.
Managed to keep the commentary going in the lulls, even combining it with a bit of humour. |

i know we unfortunately have to accept a certain amount of unfairness in the world but Eddie Jordan not being kidnapped by aliens really is pushing it................ _________________ it'll all end in tears..........cool! |

Another good job by both channels today.
For the first time in a long time, I've been watching every session live and it's amazing just how much of it can be informative. |

| I thought Eddie was bloody hilarious today. He and Jake had me laughing out loud at numerous points. The "I'd get rid of 90% of you" at the Force India factory was great as well.....probably because it was true! |

I've stuck with Sky all weekend, in order to catch all the sessions and support races and whilst they may not be considered to have reached the heart of F1 fans, I think their coverage is on a par.
I agree that the BBC probably do other segments better but am not sure how long they will stick at it for.
Good job by both channels. |

| DC offers good insight and yes, we all know Eddie spouts drivel, but I just don't care what Hill and Herbert have to say. Lazenby's improved and I'm starting to like him now, but the other two are just mind-numbingly dreary and I can't help but tune out when they come on. |

Only caught bits yesterday but although I can't agree about Lazenby (who just seems totally wrong being there), I was shocked at how unengaging Hill and Herbert were..................... _________________ it'll all end in tears..........cool! |
