Chalk this up as a first, don't think I've ever started a thread here before.

Wanted to point out Chris' superb article and add my own positive words;

Formula One and motor sport in general is a close knit community. Hang around long enough and you'll learn everyone knows everyone. Up and down the pit lane those mechanics will have either worked at Williams or know someone who does.

Sod the cars, sod the equipment, hell, sod the race result. The best thing out of yesterdays Grand Prix was displayed shortly after the team photo.

Williams and Maldonado won more than a GP victory yesterday.

It just shows that beneath the hard shell of ruthless competition and economic interests, this sport still has a soft nougaty centre.

Proud to be an F1 fan today.

Thank heavens no one was seriously hurt in what could have been an absolute tradgedy.

Kind of puts everything else into perspective.

Our Editor nailed it. It's so easy to be broadsided by the politics and brinkmanship typical of any competitive sport. Thankfully no serious injuries. Unity probably prevented tragedy. Admiration for all those who mucked in and helped.

When the chips were down and with life and limb on the line, everybody came running, and fast! So good to see. Racers are good people.

Yes Indeed !!!!

Racing communities are good groups of people and I can be a witness to that fact first hand.

Yes, there are the politics and dollars, but underneith its about putting on a good show for the fans and further promoting the sport.

Good Folks Indeed !!!!!!
