Thinking about it I suspect that MB has a low opinion of most of the people he works with, and it shows. It might be my imagination, but I can almost see a thought bubble over his head thinking "Idiot" when Lazenby is talking, and Lazenby seems more comfortable when MB isn't around.

In fact, DC is probably the only person that MB has really respected in the box with him since Murray. Obviously Martin spent most of his time then correcting Murray, but somehow MW was allowed to say silly things all the time.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Ben Edwards gets on at the BBC. Hopefully he'll be as good as he was in the BTCC and A1.

By contrast the chemistry between Ted and Georgie seemed quite good to me in the program they did together, but I don't think she adds anything to the Skypad bit. Ant might as well do that on his own.

I think Edwards is one of the best commentators around, and the partnership with Coulthard looks really positive, they already seem to have a good rapport in the box. I took to it straight away even after watching the Sky coverage.

Me too. Well done to Ben for a job well done. And we got to see pretty much all of the action - 18 mins of Q1, 14 mins of Q2 and 9 mins of Q3. It is a pain having to maintain 'radio silence'... better than shelling out £500/yr tho Wink

Indeed. I was relieved that the highlights of the quali where good but the real test is the highlights of the race tomorrow.

My TV guide didn't mention any BBC quali highlights. Sad When was it on?

And it's on the iPlayer.

Thanks. I had a look and yes, Edwards and Coulthard sound a good team.

watch it online ?
crofty is no differant to how he is on practice which TBH he livens up, not sure if 2 main comentators will work i can see him peeing of MB BUT he's nowhere near as brainnumbinly anoying as Legtard !

You're being generous regarding Croft; I was so sick of hearing his voice. Sounded like he was calling a horse race which is ok if you can't see the action but extremely annoying for TV, DC and Martin provided measured commentary without dumbing it down. Croft is, frankly, a rank amateur!

If he carries on like that today - and I am sure he will - he will rapidly get on Brundle's nerves.

No doubt a Sky shirt is already being readied for DC in 2013.

Croft is a radio man.

I agree with your comments but would add that this is the first time that this team has worked together "for real". They really need to be given some time to settle down and find their own spaces within the team.

I suspect that they are each trying to raise their profiles with their new employers.

I always liked Croft when he was on radio and again, I suspect that his radio habit of continuous chat needs a little time to adapt to that fact that his audience ALL now have moving pictures to look at whilst he is talking. Give him time to change his style, I say. I have never thought of Croft as an amateur broadcaster but have always felt that the only technically valid F1 commentators are current or just-ex drivers and that for me is the big gap between what Croft says and what Brundle says.

This is just my opinion and we all know about opinions Shocked .

He does need to be sat down with a picture of a Williams and a picture of a Sauber and made to tell the difference.
