Another child of the 80s here, born and raised in Derby, UK within spitting distance of Donington, earliest memory of Grand Prix racing was sitting on my Grandmothers carpet in Derby in the 80s sometime, watching the monaco GP on television, whilst playing with some mock F1 cars on the carpet- I remember being fascinated with the look of the blue and yellow car (the williams it would turn out), and the television shot of the hairpin as this fast noisy snake of colour streamed down the road and went round and round.
in 93, when I was 10, I remember being in my brothers room which faces south, opening the window and fighting to listen through the rain to the engines beyond, cars have always fascinated me, and I drifted in and out of F1 all through school, with varying degrees of interest, but became a fully paid up fanatic about 2000, when I went to college, with many a happy hungover afternoon spent watching the circus gallop around the world, haven't missed a race or a legal fight since.. Very Happy

When I moved to Bloemendaal in 1966 (just a couple of miles away from the Zandvoort circuit) I frequently heard the noise of race-engines when the wind came from the east. It took some time before it drew me to the track, but after visiting my first race in 1967 (the memorable Dutch GP) I became addicted big time. Very Happy

I first started watching F1 in 1986, at the age of 10. The first race I remember being Australia, the Mansell tyre blow out but I suspect I had been watching from some point earlier in the season.

I was initially a Mansell fan, national pride no doubt playing its part but here was a driver that could do great things and pull off outstandign manouevrs in a car and that's what got me hooked.

I sort of morphed into a Schumacher fan after that and by the time I actually got round to attending a Grand Prix in 2004, did wonder quite why it had taken me so long to do so.

Perhaps it’s ironic that Schumacher won that race.

Since 2004, I have attended every British Grand Prix and whilst I now do like to take an interest in the drivers that have won those races, I class myself as a general fan of the sport.

Twenty five years on from 1986 and I’m still here with no intention of going away soon but left wondering just how I can now take my enjoyment of F1 sport one step further.

It was 1968 when I went to my first meeting. My father worked for Shell and he got some tickets for the corporate box, the Grovewood Suite at Brands Hatch, for a Formula Ford meeting. The following year we went to the British GP at Silverstone as my birthday treat.

There after I went to every British GP until 1983, all the UK F1 meetings, the Spanish & Italian GP's in '74, and by good fortune got pit passes for both of them. Tyrrells wood yard was only a short cycle ride from where I lived so I had a few tours round there over the years.

My other interest was F5000
