Fuel system problem rules out Hulkenberg

17/03/2013

Sauber driver Nico Hulkenberg will not start today's Australian Grand Prix.

A problem with the fuel system has ruled the German driver out of the event, the team confirming the news to Pitpass moments before cars were scheduled to leave the pit lane.

The problem was detected as the team prepared the car ahead of the race; a routine engine fire up highlighting the issue. The problem has never happened before, according to the team, and is not present on Esteban Gutierrez’s car.

It's disappointing news for the Swiss team after Hulkenberg had qualified eleventh, giving him the freedom to choose which tyres to start the race with.
