Sutil visits the stewards

16/03/2013

Mat Coch writes:

A little 'ring rust' cost Adrian Sutil an appointment with the stewards after the third practice session.

Heading in to the final hour of practice before qualifying Charlie Whiting issued a note to teams stating that a number of systems, including the ability for Race Control to disable DRS centrally, were not working.

When rain fell mid-way through the session Race Control advised teams that DRS was disabled. However, without the ability to disable this centrally it was the responsibility of the drivers not to use the system.

Sutil, it is alleged, activated his DRS in the dying moments of the session and was referred to the stewards as a result.

However, the stewards opted not to take any further action after a power failure prevented Force India from seeing the DRS Disabled message.
