Jerez launch for Mercedes

17/01/2013

Mercedes is to launch its 2013 contender, the car to be driven by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg, at Jerez next month.

The car will be unveiled on the start/finish straight at the circuit on Monday 4 February at 13:30, the day before the first test of the 2013 season gets underway.

Despite taking its first victory since its return to the sport in 2010, the German outfit had a poor year in 2012, failing to score a single point in five successive races at the end of the season and losing out heavily to Lotus while under increasing pressure from Sauber.

With Lewis Hamilton and Niki Lauda now on board, 2013 will surely be a make or break season for the Brackley-based outfit, Mercedes Motorsport Director Norbert Haug having already paid the price for the team's dismal showing in 2012.
