Texas music legends to kick off Austin F1 weekend

The Formula 1 race weekend in Austin will kick off with a concert showcasing legendary Texas artists at ACL Live at The Moody Theater on Thursday, November 15.

Tickets go on sale to the public Today, August 8 for the event that will feature Texas artists including Willie Nelson, Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel, Pat Green and Jerry Jeff Walker.

"We wanted to show visitors to Austin what the 'Live Music Capital of the World,' means," said Andy Fish, President of Formula Austin, the production company hosting the event. "Together with Ray Benson, we have assembled a stellar lineup of Texas performers, representing 19 Grammy Awards and more Grammy nominations than can be counted. To anyone interested in being baptized by the best of Texas music, this is the must-attend concert."

Tickets start at $190 and will be available for purchase through the ACL website. A limited number of private suites will be available that will include a VIP reception with the performers prior to the concert and an open bar during the event. All tickets will be seated for this event and The Moody Theater will be configured to hold 2052 attendees, less than its 2800 capacity, creating a comfortable, intimate setting. The complete lineup will include Willie Nelson, Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel, Pat Green, Jerry Jeff Walker, Cindy Cashdollar, Del Castillo, Ruthie Foster and the Quebe Sisters.

"It is rare for so many incredible Texas performers to share the stage," said Ray Benson, lead singer of Asleep at the Wheel. "Any one of these groups could sell out the venue, so we feel like we are matching the world's newest Grand Prix with the world's greatest musical talent."

Additional events by Formula Austin include "So You Want to be a Cowboy," a Red, White, and Wine Tour and golf outings with Ben Crenshaw and Tom Kite.
