NEWS STORY
06/10/2004

We previously reported that Italian constructor Dallara, has been looking at a possible return to F1, and was busy seeking out the necessary funding and staff.

It's now understood that an announcement will be made this weekend at the Japanese GP, and that a Dallara built car could be on the F1 grid as early as next season.

Previously, there it was suggested that a 'Middle East' consortium might fund the project, but there is now speculation that a Canadian or even Russian backer might be found.

With regards power-plants, it's been suggested that the team could use Cosworth engine, despite the fact that the Engine builder was recently put up for sale by owners Ford.

Other than the possibility of a new team entering F1, the other big story in Japan is that up to four bidders are looking very seriously at purchasing Cosworth.

Dallara previously contested 78 Grands Prix between 1988 and 1992.
