If you read the mainstream media, you would be forgiven for thinking that Formula One fans have been enjoying one of the finest seasons in the sport's long history.

However, judging by the e-mails we receive, not to mention the briefest of glimpses at any number of message boards and forums, this could not be further from the truth, with many fans feeling disenfranchised by the sport.

Yes there have been a number of good races this year, but then again there have been numerous tedious processions, not to mention the spy saga resulting in McLaren's exclusion from the Constructors' Championship.

Fans are also worried by the sport's apparent fixation with money, the quest for "gimmicks" such as night races and street races, and rules which appear to stifle competition.

Consequently, in an effort to discover what F1 fans really think, Pitpass is running its very own F1 Fan Survey.

Unlike previous fan surveys, you can rest assured that if Silverstone is your favourite circuit we will not remove it from the calendar. Furthermore, we want to know what you really think about the sport, we don't want to know whether you wish to purchase a ringtone or text service.

We have attempted to balance the questions in order that they give the answer you want to give, not what we want to hear. Furthermore, there are no hidden agendas, we are not gathering your e-mail addresses in order to sell you stuff or add you to a database, we are not linked with a major (or minor) publisher nor are we aligned to a broadcaster or sponsor. We want your answers for the sport's benefit, not ours.

The survey consists of forty five statements relating to the sport, with which you will either agree or disagree, we have attempted to keep it as straightforward and balanced as possible.

To see a list of these questions prior to completing the survey please click this link:

The survey will be on-line for four weeks in order that you can think long and hard about your responses. This also means that our server should not be overloaded as fans try to voice their view, however, if the server is busy when you try, come back later... but do come back.

We do require your name and e-mail address but this is only to ensure that we can vouch for the accuracy and integrity of the survey. We can assure you that your details will not be passed on to anyone or used for commercial purposes.

In order that the survey is an accurate reflection of those that take part, on completion you will receive an e-mail asking you to verify your participation. Simply click to verify and that's it, job done.

We want this to be a fair and accurate reflection of F1 fans' feelings, therefore we ask that you do not attempt to participate more than once using different details. By doing this - and we will do our utmost to prevent it - you are only cheating yourself and indeed F1.... surely there has been enough talk of cheating in F1 recently.

This is your chance to send a message to those in control of the sport, those that participate and those that provide the money... make full use of the opportunity.

As an added incentive to participate in our survey - as if telling Planet Paddock what you really think of the sport isn't enough! - anyone completing the survey will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win one of two amazing prizes very kindly donated by our friends at Amalgam. They have come up trumps in donating a 1:4 scale Ferrari steering wheel and a 1:12 scale Spyker nosecone and shortly after the end of our survey we will pick two respondents entirely at random, one will receive the steering wheel and the other the nosecone. The winner's names will be posted on our website and they will be notified by email.

Previous surveys have invited fans to “make yourself heard” to “have your say”, but what's the point when nobody is listening? Rest assured that the result of this survey, and the message it sends out, will be seen, your voice will be heard.

Please get in touch with any further comments or if you have any problems with the survey, write to the editor at editor@pitpass.com.
