Suspended fine for Toro Rosso

NEWS STORY
20/06/2014

Toro Rosso has been hit with a suspended 10,000 euro fine for a tyre infringement during FP1 today.

The Italian team was hit with the penalty after it was found that it used a set of prime tyres intended only for use during the opening thirty minutes of the opening session for more than the allowed time - albeit, by just thirty seconds.

Nonetheless, the Stewards deemed the Faenza outfit, in allowing Jean-Eric Vergne to go beyond the allowed limit was found to have breached Article 25.4 a) of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations.

The Italian team admitted the infringement and sought to mitigate. Having considered the facts the Stewards accept that the infringement was inadvertent and no advantage was gained as a result. In the circumstances, the Stewards decided that a suspended penalty was appropriate for the infringement.

The 10,000 euro penalty is suspended for the rest of the season unless the team commits a similar infringement in which case this penalty shall become payable immediately without prejudice to any other penalty imposed for the further infringement.

"thirty seconds? This just shows how ridiculous the regulations have become. Get a grip! We want to see a real show, not one with a nit-picking nanny in charge."

"This just illustrates the ridiculousness of the FIA and F1. I stopped watching their races some years ago, during Mad Max's reign of terror and lunacy. I was hoping that Todt would change all that silliness, but F1 just gets worse and worse every race. How much worse can things get before they lose every single fan? Or don't they care?"

"How about the " FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations " get burned..................along with the mofu's that penned them !

It's getting easier and easier to make the decision to completely ignore F1."

"Suspended? How about a ruler on the knuckles and leave it at that?"
