No further action re first lap crash

NEWS STORY

Jules Bianchi and Giedo Van der Garde have escaped further penalty over the incident which saw them both eliminated at the first corner in today's race.

While attention focussed on the battle for the lead and a tangle between Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton, the Mercedes driver incurring a puncture that would subsequently eliminate him from the race, Van der Garde and Bianchi disappeared in a cloud of dust and gravel in Turn 1.

The stewards subsequently investigated the incident which saw the Caterham hit the right rear of the Marussia but decided that neither driver was “wholly or predominately to blame”. Consequently they ruled that no further action should be taken.

Meanwhile, other than the penalties handed out during the race, Force India was fined 700 euros after Paul di Resta was adjudged to have exceeded the pitlane speed limit when heading out to the grid before the event had even got underway. The incident saw the Scot, who went on to finish the race in eleventh, after four consecutive non-finishes, hit 86.2 km/h, thereby breaching Article 30.12 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations.

"In other news, Nico Rosberg is right about Perez. He was dangerous and a nuisance on track. That train wreck of a mess needs to be thrown out of Mclaren and they should get someone good like Nico Hulkenberg on board. Mclaren should avoid knee jerk reactions like the signing of Perez."
