Formula Austin partners with K.I.N.G.

13/11/2012

Formula Austin has partnered with Kids in a New Groove (K.I.N.G.) to support the local non-profit through a silent auction at The Best of Texas Music concert showcasing legendary Texas artists at ACL Live at The Moody Theater on Thursday November 15.

A painting by Austin artist Carlos Ortiz featuring Willie Nelson and Ray Benson, signed by both musicians, will be auctioned off at the event with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting K.I.N.G.

"We are so appreciative of the support of Formula Austin for Kids in a New Groove and our commitment to helping children in the Texas foster care system through the power of music," said Karyn Scott, executive director of K.I.N.G. "The donation from the auction of this painting will provide us with the opportunity to continue our mission of preparing these children for a successful future through one-on-one music mentorship."

The Best of Texas Music concert will be held on Thursday, Nov. 15 at ACL Live at The Moody Theatre and will feature eight Texas performers representing 19 Grammy Awards and more Grammy nominations than can be counted. The complete line-up includes Willie Nelson, Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel, Pat Green, Jerry Jeff Walker, Cindy Cashdollar, Del Castillo, Ruthie Foster and the Quebe Sisters.

"We are excited to support Kids in a New Groove through our Best of Texas Music event and help build a solid foundation for foster youth in Texas," said Anne Fish, co-founder of Formula Austin. "The painting by Carlos Ortiz is truly a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that celebrates two incredible Texas musicians, and this partnership brings together the spirit of giving and the love of music that is such an integral part of our community."

Tickets for the event are available now for purchase through the Formula-Austin or from Austin City Limits Live.

A limited number of private suites are available that will include a VIP reception with the performers prior to the concert.
