Gurmit's View: Star Man

04/10/2012

First there was Sir Jackie then there was Jacky Ickx and Niki Lauda, then came Singapore...

It was a novel idea, and one which has produced a mixed reaction.

At Silverstone, whilst everyone expected Mark Webber, Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel to head off for the post race press conference, up stepped Oor Jackie in his tartan trews to interview the boys in public.

At Spa it was the legendary, and rather dapper, Jacky Icky, while at Monza it was Niki Lauda, even though some of us secretly hoped Bernie might fly the equally legendary Alex Zanardi in for the event.

Then came Singapore, you know, the place where the stars are not to be found in the night sky but racing on the mean streets.

And who should step up to the podium to do the honours, who is chosen to follow in the footsteps of JYS, Ickx and The Rat, why, it's the man himself, the wallflower, the shy and retiring EJ.

Check out Gurmit's latest here.
