FIA confirms Barcelona DRS zone

NEWS STORY
10/05/2012

The FIA has confirmed that there will be one DRS zone at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix.

The activation zone will be midway between Turns 15 and 16, the last two corners of the lap, with the activation zone around a quarter of the way down the pit straight, 0.46 miles (750 metres) before Turn 1 - the same as in 2011.

The only changes to the circuit since last year's race are a one-metre strip of artificial grass which has been installed around the last part of the verge in Turn 3, while the kerb on the exit of Turn 5 has been extended.

The stewards this weekend are eight times Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen, who also enjoyed success in the German F3 championship (1991), the Japanese F3 championship (1993) and was ALMS champion in 2001, along with Gerd Ennser, member of the DMSB's Executive Committee for Automobile Sport and Radovan Novak, Sec General of the Autoclub of the Czech Republic and a World Motor Sport Council member.
