During a Grand Prix Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg has to act or react within split seconds, especially when overtaking or defending his position.

The fight for position can lead to some dangerous and scary manoeuvres. So this year the FIA has come up with a new rule. "Previously, to defend my position, I could move from the ideal line to block a car that was trying to pass," explains Rosberg.

"But this season, if I do that, I can't just quickly snap back onto the ideal line afterwards. I have to leave enough space for the opponent. Basically, within one overtaking manoeuvre I am allowed to defend myself only one time. It makes fighting for position very tactical - it's like chess only a bit more dangerous!"

Also, Geoff Willis, the Brackley-based outfit's engineering director, gives insight into how the team supports its drivers during the race with vital information.

"We pay attention to the things that Nico can't see on the track," says Willis. "I have his back. Via radio, the team is in touch with him all the time. It is important for strategy and the safety of the driver to be well informed."
