Senna critical of rivals' driving

NEWS STORY

Hispania's Bruno Senna has called on (FIA race director) Charlie Whiting to take action on rival drivers who are "chopping" up one another on track this season.

"It is happening a lot this year where drivers who are overtaking other drivers are just chopping in front too many times," he told Reuters. "With the front wing sizes we have, everybody is losing front wings. The amount of front wings that are being damaged or lost, and punctures on the rear tyres, is ridiculous.

"Even if you are not competing for position, sometimes they just chop in front of you," he added. "I think it's maybe a good idea to raise the topic with Charlie Whiting in the drivers' briefing. We need to see what can be done."

Senna has had more than his fair share of 'moments' himself this season, most recently in Valencia when he and Timo Glock were called before the stewards after colliding whilst battling for twentieth. Such was their focus on their private squabble, the two caused problems for a number of drivers including Lewis Hamilton, Kamui Kobayashi and Jenson Button, who were lapping the feuding duo for the second time.

"He (Glock) caused a problem for the faster cars because he didn't let them pass early enough," says Senna. "That's what they were looking at in terms of penalising, not at the incident itself when he chopped my front wing. So I think we need to look at it more seriously."

Glock was subsequently handed a 20s penalty, the stewards ruling that despite the fact that blue flags were waved warning him to allow the front runners through, the German had ignored them and thereby breached Appendix L, Chapter IV, Article 2 a) of the 2010 FIA International Sporting Code. As a result the Virgin driver had 20 seconds added to his elapsed time.
