The world waits on stewards decision

NEWS STORY
21/10/2007

Article 6.5.5 of the Formula One technical regulations states that: "no fuel on board the car may be more than ten degrees centigrade below ambient temperature."

It is understood that the FIA has now confirmed that the fuel on board Kubica, Heidfeld, Rosberg and Nakajima's cars was lower than the ambient temperature at each of their pit-stops. Sources in the pitlane claim that this would give the drivers' a performance advantage.

It now remains to be seen how the Race Stewards will deal with the matter once they complete their investigations, for if Heidfeld, Rosberg and Kubica are disqualified Lewis Hamilton would be promoted to fourth place and would consequently take the 2007 title.

Then again, with many race fans, and indeed inhabitants of Planet Paddock, under the illusion that Kimi Raikkonen has won the 2007 title, F1 would suffer another massive blow to its already damaged credibility should this prove not to be the case.

That said, in previous case where such fuel irregularities have occurred, it is the teams and not the drivers who have been punished.
