Alonso given green light for Renault move?

NEWS STORY
18/10/2007

Following a report in the Spanish media, other media sources around the globe are now reporting that McLaren is to give Fernando Alonso the green light to leave the Woking team at the end of the season, thereby (presumably) allowing the Spaniard to return to Renault, the team with which he won his two titles.

Marca, allegedly quoting sources close to McLaren, report: It was "backed yesterday (Wednesday) by all the partners and the team. This situation means that all roads for Alonso lead to Renault."

The Spanish newspaper claims that Renault "promised him a place with the possibility of winning the title and is currently taking steps to find the funds necessary to sign him on a contract equivalent" to the one he has with McLaren.

Thus far, with the all important season finale due to taker place this weekend, neither McLaren, Mercedes or Renault has commented on the reports.
